What We Do

Abnormal uterine bleeding, or dysfunctional uterine bleeding, is prevalent in women of reproductive age. Menorrhagia, featuring heavy menstrual bleeding exceeding the normal 80 to 120 milliliters range, is a concern when changing a pad every hour or less due to a heavy flow.

Pap smear abnormalities arise when the test shows abnormal cells, suggesting potential pre-cancer or, rarely, cervical cancer. Positive HPV results or abnormal cells prompt a colposcopy for closer examination using a microscope. The likelihood of cancerous cells varies, requiring a thorough assessment for accurate determination.

Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) results from an imbalance in vaginal bacteria, specifically a disruption in the ratio of "good" and "harmful" bacteria naturally present in a woman's vagina. This condition is prevalent among women of reproductive age and is not sexually transmitted.

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial infection that can affect any part of the urinary tract, commonly caused by bacteria like E. coli found in the colon. UTIs have various names based on the affected area, such as cystitis for bladder infection, urethritis for urethral infection, and pyelonephritis for kidney infection.

A Bartholin's cyst is a fluid-filled sac that can develop near the vaginal opening when the Bartholin's glands, responsible for lubricating the vagina, become blocked. While many Bartholin's cysts are painless, they can grow and lead to discomfort or pain, particularly during activities like walking or sexual intercourse.

Endometriosis occurs when the tissue from the lining of the womb grows outside the womb, typically in the abdominal area, ovaries, and other regions. Diagnosis often involves laparoscopy, a procedure using a camera to view the inside of the abdomen. Treatment options for endometriosis include hormonal interventions or surgical procedures.

Fibroids and polyps, composed of muscle and fibrous tissue in the uterus, are typically non-cancerous growths that can lead to issues such as abnormal bleeding, fertility challenges, or recurrent miscarriages. Diagnosis involves examination, ultrasound, and hysteroscopy. Treatment options may include surgical removal or non-surgical alternatives.

A hysterectomy is a common surgical procedure to remove the uterus, with approximately one in five women undergoing it by the age of 55. Advances in treatments have reduced the necessity for hysterectomies, providing alternative options for managing conditions that once required this procedure.

Incontinence is the loss of bladder control, involving leakage of urine, wind, or feces—a common and uncomfortable issue. Even minor actions like coughing or sneezing can trigger the need to urinate, causing embarrassment. If experiencing a combination of incontinence types, a doctor will assess the situation and recommend suitable treatment options.

Lichen Sclerosis is a skin condition that is more prevalent in menopausal women but can occur at any age. It involves the development of white patches of skin that appear thinner than normal, particularly on the external genitals. In some cases, the labia minora may disappear entirely and become fused.

Ovarian cysts are common, particularly during reproductive ages, and are typically non-cancerous. Diagnosis involves examination and ultrasound. While some cysts resolve on their own without treatment, others may require surgical intervention.
